Analyse the front covers for both GO and Saga magazine

On the saga magazine, Michael Caine has been placed on a white background making him stand out more to the reader. The white background may also connote peace and enlightenment. Caine is also wearing all black to maybe suggest to the reader that he still has his dangerous child hood inside him as stating in the article about him going back to it. His figure has been made to fit the height of the magazine suggesting he is a popular topic to talk about therefore connoting that he needs to be made big to attract the reader. The anchor text used tells the reader: "The UK's bestselling monthly magazine." This also attracts the leader to look closer into the magazine as it suggests that it is the most popular in the United Kingdom. The layout and structure of the texts, picture, anchor text and title all fit into the magazine tidy as well as matching colours for different importance. For example, the sub titles all match to the colour red making it stand out more attracting the reader to see what it is stating. Suggesting that these need to be read before buying the magazine to see what it's about. The red sticker placed on the magazine encourages the reader in even more by leaving it on a cliff hanger; "...and doesn't like what he sees." Therefore the reader would be pulled into wanting to find out what Cain's childhood was like as well as the topics spoken about in the magazine.

'GO' magazine immediately strikes the reader’s attention with Clint Eastwood front and centre on the front page. Eastwood is an extremely popular actor with the majority of the population knowing who he is. The matching denim shirt and jeans inflicts the essence of Eastwood onto the reader. The glance given simply puts the icing on the cake with the anchor text stating; "Badass of the year, Clint Eastwood." The magazine's texts are created to seem like its talking to the reader, drawing them in. '!'s' have been used throughout the front cover at specific points. "Cars! Clothes! Food! Music! Gadgets! & More!" This signifies the excitement given out to the reader by the magazine as well as informing others that it's targeted audience is young adulated males with the subjects given. With also a catchy line "the best stuff '09", suggesting the main and most important topics spoken about throughout the year in the magazine. In the area where it states; "starring", certain names have been highlighted out more compared to the rest. Names such as "Barrack Obama" and "Alec Baldwin". This connotes the importance about these people and highlighting them will attract the reader's attention.
